Creating Living Spaces

You hear us talking about living spaces, and we were fortunate enough to share a few tips on creating a living space for yourself. In creating Nooke, we knew that we didnʼt want to just create more furniture — thus creating more waste. We wanted to be as mindful as possible in creating these pieces. We centered on creating pieces that would last and designs that would grow with you.

Living Spaces

Living spaces means a space that breathes and exists. It doesnʼt have to be still and fixed for, your space can constantly evolve. Weʼve always been about individuality and creating a home that grows with you. A home thatʼs never static, since homes exist around our way of living

Feeling good about coming home

Being city-dwellers, we live very fast-paced lives and we sometimes get carried away with our life outside our homes, from work and events. A good way to think about your home is that itʼs your sanctuary. Itʼs where you want to take things slow after a busy day, and be able to freely be yourself. A living space gets you excited about coming home.

Think of your space as a character

We’ve heard people ask questions about how they knew what style to go for your home. What usually helps is creating a persona for the space. It can be a character or personality, as long as it resonates with you. Along with this, try sketching or ideating how you want things to be in your space, from materials, texture, art.

Decorate your space based on your rituals

This is one of the most important tips on creating a living space. It has to work with how you live as you actively use every bit of your space. Try to figure out what things you do on a daily basis. If you like to read, maybe set up a reading corner with your book collection. If you practice yoga, maybe make it spacious enough for your mat. If you like to host friends, or if you work from home, have space for that and buy based on those details.

Don’t force to fill the spaces

Always let your space grow. Over time, youʼll fill up the space with items you actually need. Forcing to fill up the space will just lead to you getting rid of items. Furniture is difficult to get rid of, and fills up landfills. We encourage you guys to reuse and think of ' second life for your pieces.
